Minnie Bell Gilbert, 77 of Rising Sun, MD, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017 in the Chester County Hospital, West Chester, PA.

She was born in Wilmington, DE, on August 7, 1939 and was co-owner of Pleasant Hill Store.  While raising her children, she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for many years at Calvert Nursing Home.

Minnie enjoyed reading Amish Books, watching Fox news and was an avid birdwatcher, especially enjoying her hummingbirds.  But most important of all to her, was her family.  She loved each and every one dearly and made sure she mailed cards every holiday to her children and grandchildren. She was the most loving wife and mother anyone could ever ask for.

Survivors include her loving husband of 50 years: David L. Gilbert, Sr.; five children:  Samuel F. Gilbert of Mustang, OK, David L. Gilbert, Jr. of Roanoke, VA, Patricia L. Gilbert of Knoxville, TN, Donna M. Gilbert of Santa Maria, CA and Dale R. Gilbert of Elkton, MD. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Minnie was preceded in death by her father: Eugene Edward Cote and her mother: Minnie Bell (Anderson) Vansant.

Graveside services, conducted by Rev. Dennis Gilbert will be held Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Rose Bank Cemetery, Calvert, MD.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations to the American Heart Association, in care of Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, MD 21901.
