Manuel Alfred Bernal, 92 of Elkton, MD, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2016 in Newark, DE.
Born in Bell, CA. on September 13, 1924, he was the son of the late Frank and Catherine Bernal. While serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he fought in the Battle of the Bulge and received a Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Silver Star. Manuel was so proud of his military service and shared his stories with family and friends whenever the opportunity presented itself. He loved watching T.V. and had an extensive collection of over 1,000 movies. As a young father, he crafted skateboards, stilts, scooters, rubber band guns and even a ping pong table for his children.
Manuel started his career as an auto assembler in LA County for Chrysler Corp. and finished his tenure at the Newark facility. He retired after 37 years. Manuel enjoyed detailing his vehicle and took great pride in all that he endeavored to do.
He is survived by his children; Augustine M. Bernal(Mirla) of La Habra, Ca., Luis C. Bernal(Patricia) of Elkton, Md., Rosemarie Bernal of Foothill Ranch, Ca., 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 1 niece and 4 nephews.
The funeral service will be held Monday, October 10, 2016 at 12:00 pm at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A. 127 South Main Street, North East. Visitation for family and friends will begin at 11:00am - 12:00pm. Interment will follow at Rose Bank Cemetery, Rising Sun with Military Honors.
