Still can't believe this is true. "Pop" you were truly a breath of fresh air. I remember working Saturday mornings with you at the store all through high school, making small talk, watching the news, and reading the newspaper. I sure will miss running into you at Walmart, seeing that smile you always had on your face. It's almost bitter sweet since John passed away in 2007, but now the two of you are together again. Keep him out of trouble up there, and just know that the two of you are loved and missed everyday.

My deepest sympathy to the family. I met Mr Lewis in Walmart and told him how I knew Julie. He often told me how much he loved her and how proud he was of her. He was always pleasant and smiling. I will miss seeing him there as he always made my husband and my trip there nicer. Prayers for comfort.

To all those who knew and loved "Uncle John", especially Stevie, Julie and family.

It is with great sadness but also wonderful memories (far too many to list here)
that I send my heartfelt condolences.  Uncle John was a special guy and the world was a better place with him in it.  I can still see his mischievous grin and remember the big hug he gave me the last time I saw him too many years ago.
Even though we are not related, he will always be my "Uncle John" and I will always think of you all as family.  I hope you will find comfort in knowing that so many people thought so highly of and cared so deeply for Uncle John.

Prayers to the Lewis family whom I love and care for deeply. I am so sorry for the passing of Uncle John, but God knew it was time to call him home.  He is up there smiling in heaven saying well I'am here let the gathering  begin. His brothers and sister and son and the rest of the Lewis gang will be please to see him. I have never seen John mad but only one time and that was when his basement caved it. He always had a smile and Charlotte and he were always at the Lewis gatherings and picnics with stories and jokes. I still can hearing him saying which of Sue's girls are you. Always ready to ask how everyone was doing and saying good bye with a special smile that lasted for ever. I can not say enough about John because he was a Lewis and we who know the Lewis' know what I am saying. Prayers and tears but love of an Uncle is forever in our hearts.

Uncle John,

To everyone who knew you during your most recent incarnation, you will live forever.

It is, however, hard to think about not seeing your goofy -yet endearing smile, hunting you down at Walmart for an unprompted visit, finding solace in our frequent chats, and being inspired by your incredible work ethic, your uncomplicated approach to life, and the integrity that defined your spirit.
–There are few around today that are put together they way you were…

May your soul rest in comfort and may its reawakening be glorious.

~om ami dewa hri~ …om

Peace to you,
Chris Starling and family

Stevie, Julie, Charlotte and all that knew and loved my Uncle John,
Our hearts are broken today to lose such a wonderul man.  A man who's joy was to live, laugh and love.  One of life's greatest gifts is to know someone of this character. He will be missed, but it seems that God has a different plan for him now.  May we all be assured that he will be with us always in spirit looking down on all of us one by one and let us please be thankful for the time we did have with him while he was with us here on earth.  It it without my doubt that he is in heaven having a blast - hugging, crying, joking, laughing - with all of those that he has reconnected with whether it be his loving biological family and what I am sure is his other family in all the walks of life he has been involved.  Love and hugs to you all.
His proud niece and her husband,
Gloria and Mike (or as he would say to me in the mornings, "Morning Glory; have you seen the 'rain dear'?!)

I have to say that while I never met Mr. Lewis personally, I've known his daughter Julie for many years and he meant the world to her.  He will be missed, and I know he will always live on in his family's hearts. He and Johnny are up there looking over everyone now.  Rest in peace, Mr. Lewis.  May your family have peace in knowing that they have another guardian angel in Heaven.
