A special thank you to John's family for sharing him with us - through the New England Railroad Club, and his work with Pandrol - he was such a generous person with his time and talents - but be sure to know that his family was first foremost in his heart.
John will be missed, but most fondly remembered for all his good work. A gentleman in the highest sense of that word.

Bill Roan hit the nail on the head, Johnny was one of the "Good Guys" with a
strong handshake and warm smile.  Oh the days with his father, John, et. al. in the RR hospitality rooms, never a dull moment and always a good remembrance.  Those days are over, but not forgotten.

Yes, he will be missed by all who knew him.  My sympathies to the family.

I am very sorry to hear of John's death.  We were speaking of him on Sunday at the TRB annual conference and I was planning on calling him since I've not had an opportunity to work with him over the last couple of years on the APTA Track Noise & Vibration Forum because of his illness and my work load.

Our deepest regrets,
Edwin Wetzel and Family

Every memory of Thanksgivings past finds Johnny, Laura, Susan, and Jeff around the kids' table playing cards. He was always so warm, kind, and funny-
traits now mirrored in Jack and Olivia.

It is hard to let go of some of the great people that touched our lives. But just as long as we hold you in our hearts you will always be remember. Heaven will never be the same with you, Schumaker, your Dad John, Jerry Hines and all the old great fantastic RR guys that went before you. I can almost hear the laughter.
No more sorrow, no more pain.

John was THE coolest of the cousins... at Thanksgiving when we were young he brought his 8-Track player and drove a van... fun and fond memories... his sense of humor and infectious laugh will always be remembered.  We miss him already.
