Joel Leroy Vanover, 84 of Elkton, MD, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2018 in the Union Hospital, Elkton, MD.
Born in Jenkins, KY, on October 17, 1933, he was the son of the late Edwin and Pearl (King) Vanover.
He served his country proudly during Korean Conflict in the Army, 187th Air Borne, earning several medals, including the Korean Service Medal w/4 Bronze Stars for his bravery.
Mr. Vanover retired from DuPont after 38 years of service as an Engineer.
He was a Master Mason with the Clarksboro, NJ Lodge #87, a life member of VFW Post 6027, North East, MD, and a life member of DAV.
He enjoyed gardening, fishing and sports. Most of all he loved his family and enjoyed watching his sons and grandchildren in all of their activities.
Survivors include his loving wife: Bonny Virginia (Lambert) Vanover; three sons: Christopher J. Vanover (Laura) of North East, MD, Andrew L. Vanover (Kelly) of Elkton, MD and Mark E. Vanover (Mary) of Londonderry, NH; and 4 grandchildren: Michael C. Vanover, Jeffrey T. Vanover, Chloe E. Vanover and Kruze D. Kornegay.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018 from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD.
Funeral service, conducted by Rev. James Moyers will be held Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 11:00 am at Elkton Church Of The Nazarene, 377 Nottingham Road, Elkton, MD.
Interment will be Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at 2:00 pm in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.
