June Marie Benjamin, 84 of North East, MD, passed away peacefully Monday, July 4, 2016 in the Elkton Transitional Care Center, Elkton, MD.

A lifelong resident of Cecil County, she was born on February 5, 1932, the daughter of the late Oscar and Eva Janice (Brown) Hammer.  She was the wife of the late Lawrence Edward Benjamin who passed on Sept. 24, 1990.

Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Benjamin worked at J.J. Newberry’s, Elkton, MD. 

She was a member of the Covered Bridge and Shelemiah UM Church, Bay View, MD.  She enjoyed collecting many different things.

Survivors include her son: Daniel E. Benjamin (Carol) of North East, MD; her granddaughter: Dawn Benjamin of El Dorado, AR; five sisters: Mildred "Millie" Holdway of North East, MD, Peggy Sprecher of Mt. Dora, FL, Patricia Wilson of Havre de Grace, MD, Sandra Ritter of North East, MD and Carol Vaartjes of North East, MD; one brother: Hayes Hammer of North East, MD; three great grandchildren: Lani and Evan Vermilyea, Tom Tom Riccio;  and two step grandchildren: Tommy Riccio (Madi) and Brandon Riccio (Courtney).

Memorial services will be held 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, where the family will received guests from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm.

Private interment will be in Bay View Cemetery, Bay View, MD.
