Deborah “Debbie” Mae Miklas, 62 of Charlestown, MD, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018 after a long, hard fought health battle, surrounded by her loving family. She was the definition of a true fighter. She made her family proud!

Born in Bel Air, MD, on December 18, 1955, she was the daughter of Della F. (Brooks) Smith of Elkton, MD and the late, Edward Smith.

Prior to retirement, she was employed by Cecil County Public Schools as a lead secretary at Charlestown Elementary.

Debbie enjoyed her time spent with her family and friends, especially watching her children and grandchildren play sports. She never missed a game. Her children and grandchildren were her absolute pride and joy. She lived every day for them. She also enjoyed shopping, dancing, spending time at the beach and family trips to Gettysburg. Debbie will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 42 years: Philip Miklas of Charlestown, MD; 3 sons: Joshua Miklas (Laura) of North East, MD, Jarad Miklas of Charlestown, MD, Justin Miklas of Charlestown, MD; 5 brothers: Bill Bull, Don Bull, Duane Smith, Gary Smith and Jeff Smith; 2 granddaughters: Allyson Miklas, Kathryn Miklas; grandson: Carter Miklas; mother in law: Jeanette Miklas; brother and sister in law: Eric and Mindy Miklas; aunt: Marlene Holloway; many nieces and nephews; best friend: Nancy Proctor; and her Charlestown Elementary School family.

She is preceded in death by her father: Lee Bull; and father in law: Mike Miklas.

Funeral service by Rev. Karen Bunnell will be held Sunday, January 7, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, where family and friends may visit from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Charlestown Elementary School, in care of the funeral home.
